The Congress has forged the signatures of many of its legislators in the list submitted to Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala, alleged Union Minister Prakash Javadekar in Bengaluru on Friday.
"One would wonder how Congress could collect the signatures of all MLAs even before they arrived in Bengaluru to attend the Congress legislature party meeting,” Javadekar charged.
Forging signature and other documents is not new to the grand old party, alleged Javadekar, saying, "When Manipur had a hung Assembly, the Congress had submitted a forged letter of support of Manipur People's Party. Again, in Karnataka they have forged signatures."
"Leaders of Congress and the JD(S) parties have no morality left to take a high moral standing. They don't have trust in their own MLAs, held them captive in isolated resorts, severed their contacts with their families by confiscating the cellphones and they are not allowed to watch news channels. This is ridiculous," added Javadekar.
Defending the governor's decision to invite the BJP to form the government, Javadekar said, "There was no pre-poll alliance in Karnataka between Congress and JD(S), who fought the elections like bitter enemies. It is not just Siddaramaiah and Kumaraswamy who called each other names, but Congress president Rahul Gandhi branded JD(S) as the 'B' team of the BJP and Janata Dal Sangh Parivar. Now, they are trying to cobble an alliance, in an opportunistic move. Governor has done the right thing by inviting the single-largest party."
When asked about Congress citing the case of Goa where the BJP formed a government with a post-poll alliance despite it not being the single-largest party, Javadekar said the Goa example was more than a year and a half ago, and the Congress should instead bring in a no-confidence motion.
