A 23-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room in Hyderabad on Sunday.
The victim, who has been identified as B. Haneesha, was a second year MBA student of Siva Sivani Institute of Management, Kompally, reports ANI.
According to media reports, the girl committed suicide during an ongoing video call with her boyfriend, who has been identified as Dakshit Patel. The two were in a relationship for a while, suggests media reports.
The reason behind the suicide is yet to be known. However, some reports point out that a minor altercation between the two may have forced the girl to take the extreme step.
"Today a 23-year-old MBA 2nd year student committed suicide by hanging herself to a ceiling fan in her college hostel room," Inspector of Petbasheerabad police station told ANI.
The body has been sent for autopsy and a case has been registered under section 174 of Code of Criminal Procedure.
Police said the parents of the victim filed a complaint and investigation is under way.
