The recent shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders across the country has become a serious concern for households and others. Various eateries and food joints are facing the heat due to the disruption in the supply chain of commercial LPG.

The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) released an advisory addressing the crisis. "The ongoing geopolitical developments have led to severe disruption in the supply chain of commercial LPG. If the situation escalates further and availability tightens significantly, the restaurant industry may face serious operational challenges. In order to safeguard business continuity, employment, and the stability of our sector, NRAI urges all members to immediately adopt the following fuel conservation and operational continuity measures," mentioned the statement.

Supply disruptions, logistical challenges, and rising demand have contributed to delays in cylinder deliveries, leaving many households struggling to manage their daily meals.

The shortage has also made people ponder if nutritious meals can be prepared without relying solely on LPG.

Here are five foods that can be prepared without using LPG gas:

Vegetable sandwich

A vegetable sandwich is one of the easiest meals to prepare without cooking. Fresh vegetables like cucumber, tomato, onion, and lettuce can be layered between slices of bread with butter or green chutney, making it a healthy, filling, and quick meal.

Sprouts salad

Sprouted green gram is well known for its nutritional value and requires no cooking. Mix sprouts with chopped onions, tomatoes, lemon juice, salt, and spices to create a protein-rich salad.

Fruit bowl

A bowl of mixed fruits such as bananas, apples, papaya, and pomegranate makes a refreshing and nutritious meal or snack.

Curd rice (using pre-cooked rice)

If you have any leftover rice at home, it can be mixed with yogurt, salt, and simple tempering alternatives like chopped coriander and cucumber to make a quick meal that is also very filling.

Overnight oats

Soak oats overnight in milk or yogurt and top with fruits, nuts, and honey. This is an ideal breakfast meal that requires no cooking.

While the LPG shortage may create temporary inconvenience, adopting simple, no-cook meal options can help households manage daily food needs.
