The Mumbai Police on Sunday detained a suspect in the attack on Bollywood star Tiger Shroff at the Pushpa Park in Mumbai's Juhu area. He managed to escape unharmed after shots were fired at his car.

The detained individual is suspected to have played a part in the attempted shooting of Tiger Shroff—for which the Lawrence Bishnoi gang have claimed responsibility—and is currently being questioned by the Mumbai Police, as per a Jansatta report.

The police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the three assailants, who had approached the actor's car on a motorcycle, opened fire, and then rushed off.

An eyewitness described one of the assailants as "thin and unassuming", and that he looked like "someone living on the footpath".

"When he came and started shooting, people thought maybe someone was bursting Diwali firecrackers. But when Tiger's car stopped and he stumbled out in agony, there was blood everywhere. Seeing him in that state, people panicked," she claimed in an IANS video.

According to DCP Mohit Garg, the incident took place at around 7 PM on Sunday, after he returned from a private event, after which Tiger did not sustain any injuries, and was said to be "completely safe".

Unfortunately, two others suffered injuries—Firdaus, his driver, whose hand was injured, and a person named Chavan (also named 'Chauhan' in some reports). Both are currently undergoing treatment.

Visuals from the scene show the panic that spread when the shots were fired, with one video also showing the actor's reaction right after the gunshots—he is seen moving into the driver's seat and quickly driving away. THE WEEK could not independently verify this video.

Soon after the firing incident, a man identifying himself as 'Anil Pandit Anmol Bishnoi' released an audio note online claiming responsibility for the attack, and adding that his elder brother, Armaan Sandhu, was involved in the plot as well.

"We explained it to him, but he didn't understand ... Anyone in the entire film industry who works separately from us or works with Salman Khan, we will kill them. And this is the first and last warning," he declared in the note.

Pandit's warning comes just three months after tthe Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for opening fire outside a gym owned by Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa.

Anil Pandit, a native of Haryana’s Panipat, is believed to have travelled to the United States via the dunki route in 2024, from where he began working for the Bishnoi gang, an Indian Express report said.

"Salman Khan, if you don't apologise to my older brother Lawrence Bishnoi or the Bishnoi community, we won't even leave a dog in your house. I will destroy your entire family ... It might take a little time, but everyone's turn will come," he added in the note.

In any case, the incident has sparked panic in the area, as 15 teams of the Mumbai Police continue to investigate the attempted shooting. A forensic team has also collected evidence from the spot where the firing took place, as efforts are on to identify the assailants.
