'Alpha', starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, has achieved an estimated Rs 20.50 crore net in India over its initial two days, demonstrating promising growth. Despite a Day 1 collection of Rs 9.25 crore net, a significant jump on Day 2 indicates rising audience interest

Alia Bhatt-starrer "Alpha" has collected an estimated Rs 20.50 crore net in India over its first two days, showing healthy growth after an opening that was lower than what is usually expected from a film in the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe.
While the Day 1 numbers (Rs 9.25 crore net) sparked some debate, the strong jump on Day 2 suggests that audience interest is currently building, especially in urban centres. Globally, the total gross has reached Rs 37.60 crore, according to Sacnilk figures.
Looking at Alia Bhatt’s solo, female-led theatrical releases, "Alpha" ranks among her stronger box office performers. It has outperformed her 2024 release "Jigra" while trailing her biggest female-led hit, "Gangubai Kathiawadi".
One of the biggest positives for "Alpha" is how it has recovered from its opening day. The film's initial momentum is double that of "Jigra", which had a slow start and managed only Rs 11.05 crore over its first two days. In comparison, "Alpha" has already reached Rs 20.50 crore, which puts it in a much stronger position at least as far as the weekend performance is concerned. It's expected to do bigger numbers on Day 3 as well, despite largely negative feedback from critics and trade analysts.
Interestingly, the film shares a similar box-office pattern to another of Alia's solo releases, "Raazi". Both movies feature Alia Bhatt in the role of an intelligence agent and appealed to audiences looking for female-driven spy thrillers. On Day 2, both films earned almost the same amount—around Rs 11.30 crore net. However, "Alpha" holds a slight advantage due to its stronger opening day, giving it a higher two-day total.
Another notably similar performance was seen in another female-led commercial entertainer, "Crew" (2024), which also earned just over Rs 20 crore in its first two days, largely thanks to strong support from multiplex audiences in major cities. "Alpha" appears to be following a similar trajectory, with urban viewers reportedly driving impressive night-show occupancy on Day 2.
Among Alia’s major female-led releases, "Gangubai Kathiawadi" still leads the pack with a two-day India net collection of Rs 23.82 crore, followed by "Alpha" at Rs 20.50 crore. "Raazi" collected Rs 18.83 crore over the same period.
Overall, "Alpha" has delivered a solid start. Although it fell short of the high expectations usually associated with a YRF Spy Universe film, its steady day-to-day growth and strong performance among urban audiences indicate decent word-of-mouth. If this momentum continues over the weekend, "Alpha" could establish itself as one of the stronger female-led commercial successes in Alia’s career.
