The opening is a major milestone for Hashmi. Awarapan 2 has comfortably surpassed his previous biggest opener, Baadshaho, which earned ₹12.60 crore on its first day. More notably, the sequel's single-day collection has already exceeded the entire lifetime gross of the original Awarapan, released in 2007. The first film finished with around ₹12.80 crore gross and approximately ₹7 crore net.
The success also marks a turnaround for Hashmi, whose previous seven solo releases had struggled at the box office, with most earning less than ₹3 crore on their opening day. With ₹21.50 crore net on Day 1, Awarapan 2 has crossed both the ₹15 crore and ₹20 crore milestones for the first time in his career.
The film's strong debut appears to have been driven by nostalgia, audience interest in the original and renewed excitement around Hashmi's return to a major theatrical release. It now has a strong platform for the days ahead.
