After the release of Suriya's blockbuster "Karuppu" on Prime Video, the platform has announced the streaming date of another South Indian hit. Mohanlal-starrer "Drishyam 3" will closely follow it, with Prime Video officially announcing a June 18 premiere, almost a month after the Jeethu Joseph-directed thriller's May 21 theatrical release date.

Prime Video had officially acquired the exclusive digital rights for the film from production house Aashirvad Cinemas. The sequel, "Drishyam 2", was released directly by the platform during the pandemic. "Drishyam 3" will be available in its original Malayalam language, alongside dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. It will simultaneously release to viewers across India and in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

In its theatrical run, "Drishyam 3" met with largely positive-to-mixed reviews and strong box-office results. Unlike the first two films, Jeethu Joseph adopted a fresh approach this time around, focusing more on natural character dilemmas and character-centric moments rather than overloading the script with twists. The movie explores how far Georgekutty (played by Mohanlal) will go to protect his family, showcasing relatively heavier ethical dilemmas, unlike what the character experienced in the previous films.

Meanwhile, the makers of the upcoming Hindi version starring Ajay Devgn confirmed that it will deviate significantly, featuring a different story and screenplay tailored for Hindi-speaking sensibilities.

By June 2026, "Drishyam 3" crossed over Rs 234.97 crore in global gross earnings, cushioned by a massive overseas total of Rs 111.50 crore. Also starring Meena, Esther Anil, Hansiba, Siddique, Asha Sarath, and Murali Gopy, it became the second-highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time in India, surpassing the domestic gross of Mohanlal's "L2: Empuraan" with over Rs 124 crore domestic collection. It earned over Rs 84.50 crore in Kerala alone, overtaking the lifetime state earnings of Mohanlal's previous blockbuster "Pulimurugan".
