'Money Heist' to get Season 6? Netflix confirms universe expansion ahead of 'Berlin' Season 2 premiere

The original "Money Heist" series ended in 2021 after a five-season run. "Berlin: Season 2" — also known as "Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine" — is set to begin streaming globally from May 15, 2026, on Netflix

It seems the "Money Heist" universe has plenty of ideas left, as Netflix officially announced, in the form of a teaser titled 'The World of Money Heist Continues', that there will be more titles in what is being teased as a larger canvas. This indicates that there will be more properties beyond the original series and the spin-offs.

The teaser was accompanied by the message, "It began with money, then came gold and priceless treasure. But the revolution isn't yet over. What comes next has already begun."

Interestingly, this announcement precedes the release of the prequel series "Berlin: Season 2" — also known as  "Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine" — globally on May 15, 2026

The teaser has already triggered speculations about the development of Season 6, but no official announcements have been made yet. But the teaser's final shot — a hidden gold bar being unearthed — has sparked theories about a possible return of the original crew or a story set in a different timeline, like 'Berlin'.

To promote the new development, a grand promotional event was held by Netflix in Seville, Spain, featuring a boat of red jumpsuit-clad and Dalí mask-wearing occupants, sailing down the Guadalquivir River to the tune of "Bella Ciao".

Currently, the franchise comprises the original five-season series (ended in 2021), the "Money Heist: Korea" adaptation, and the "Berlin" spin-off series.

The original "Money Heist" show consistently dominates Netflix's all-time charts for non-English series, reportedly clocking in at over 1.3 billion hours of watch time, with about 160 million total views globally.

The "Berlin" prequel focusing on Pedro Alonso’s character has also seen record-breaking success, with registered views of approximately 53–56 million and roughly 348 million hours of watch time.

The South Korean adaptation, "Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area", on the other hand, reached #1 globally for non-English shows in its first week, with 33.7 million hours viewed in just three days, as per reports. It made it to the Top 10 list in 51 countries and held the #1 spot in major markets like South Korea, Indonesia, and Thailand. Between the original series and its expansions, the franchise has totalled over 2.2 billion hours of watch time across all seasons.
