However, when compared to the higher opening-weekend benchmarks of Dhanush's recent directorial and starring ventures, "Kara" falls short, and considering its budget, reported to be about Rs 100 crore, it will need to up its numbers in the coming days if it wants to be a profitable enterprise.

"Raayan", which Dhanush starred in and directed, performed far better, collecting approximately Rs 87 crore worldwide in its first four days.

"Kuberaa" crossed Rs 55 Cr in India net alone by day 4, its worldwide gross was well over Rs 70 crore in the same period.

"Captain Miller" grossed about Rs 50.69 crore to Rs 59.63 crore worldwide by its fourth day, becoming the first Tamil film of 2024 to enter the Rs 50 Cr club.

"Idli Kadai"  earned a worldwide gross of over Rs 40 crore.

"Kara" also falls behind  Dhanush's most celebrated recent hit "Thiruchitrambalam", which grossed over Rs 50 crore worldwide in its first 4 days, driven by family audiences.
