As of April 6, 2026, the Ryan Gosling-starrer "Project Hail Mary" has collected a total of Rs 45.49 crore gross at the Indian box office. The film's total net collection in India stands at Rs 37.95 crore after a 12-day run at the Indian box office.

Despite facing heavy competition from the local blockbuster "Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge", the film has shown strong "legs," with its second-weekend performance surpassing its first. The second weekend collection total is expected to cross Rs 15-18 crore, pushing the India total collection close to the Rs 45-47 crore mark.

Data from various sources show the film saw a 20% growth on its second Saturday with roughly ₹Rs 5.50 crore, marking a highly successful run for a Hollywood film in the Indian market. Released on March 26, 2026, it recorded an impressive opening weekend collection of Rs 14.15 crore – Rs 18.50 crore in India.

Despite heavy competition from the local blockbuster "Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge", "Project Hail Mary" saw significant daily growth fueled by positive word-of-mouth. It showed strong, consistent holding power, particularly in urban centers like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

Had it opened in the country a week earlier, as it was initially supposed to do, "Project Hail Mary" would've probably done more numbers, but, since many screens — including IMAX — had to be allocated to the Ranveer Singh-starrer, it wouldn't have been practical for Indian theatres, despite strong opposition from fans who argued that movies made for IMAX must be made available for the "Project Hail Mary".

However, the sci-fi movie saw steady growth owing to strong positive word-of-mouth and an increase in the number of premium format (IMAX, 4DX) screenings.

Trade experts predict the film, which has a total duration of 2 hours and 36 minutes,  will cross the Rs 50 crore mark by Tuesday and could potentially reach a lifetime total of Rs 75–100 crore if it holds well in its third week.

Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, "Project Hail Mary" is already a massive success worldwide, crossing $420 million (Rs 3,500 crore) as of April 6, 2026.
