Vineet Kumar Singh, who was last seen in Anurag Kashyap's "Nishaanchi" in a crucial role, has joined Aneet Padda-starrer "Shakti Shalini", developed by Maddock Films.

It's one of the upcoming entries in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, which comprises the "Stree" films, "Bhediya", "Munjya", and "Thamma". It's the sixth entry in the universe.

As per a report in Variety India, the role could mean big things for Singh, whose recent big-ticket forays include "Jaat" and "Chhaava". Interestingly, the latter was a Maddock production.

Production is already in progress. It's Aneet's next big release after "Saiyaara", which saw her and Ahaan Panday turning breakouts through their maiden lead performances.

"Shakti Shalini" also features "Homebound" and "Mardaani 2" actor Vishal Jethwa, who previously starred together in "Salaam Venky".

"Munjya" and "Thamma" director Aditya Sarpotdar is helming "Shakti Shalini", which will see Aneet's protagonist playing a powerful character taking on evil forces.

Maddock has already slated the film for release on December 24, 2026. However, with "King", starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, scheduled for the same date, the makers may reportedly reconsider their release strategy.

Meanwhile, Vineet Kumar Singh will be seen in Nagraj Manjule's Prime Video series "Matka King", headlined by Vijay Varma. Singh is most known for his collaborations with acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, in films such as "Mukkabaaz" and the "Gangs of Wasseypur" saga.

Like most of his contemporaries who started in the independent cinema space, Singh successfully made a smooth transition to mainstream cinema, with "Jaat" and "Chaavva" being the most notable examples.
