'Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge' looks to break these box office records set by 'Pushpa 2: The Rule', 'Baahubali 2' as 1,000 crore dream looms

Box office records are being crushed by Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar: The Revenge with each passing day, as the Ranveer Singh-led spy-action thriller registered the best opening collections ever by a Hindi film.

After having become the fastest ₹500 crore grosser worldwide, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is in contention to break many other records, including some held by iconic blockbusters like RRR, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Pushpa 2: The Rule. Interestingly, S. S. Rajamouli, the director of the period adventures flick RRR and Baahubali , hailed Aditya Dhar after watching Dhurandhar: The Revenge. "I loved 'Dhurandhar-1', but 'The Revenge' surpassed the original in both scale and soul. The writing, casting, technical execution, music, world design and direction are flawless... But it's the emotional stakes that really ground it... @adityadharfilms you hit it out of the park. It takes guts to make and release a film 4 hours long. The audience is glued to the seat till the last frame," he wrote.

• As Dhurandhar 2 breached the ₹400 crore nett mark domestically, it secured the biggest opening weekend ever for a Bollywood title. With advance bookings across India showing consistent interest among film lovers, the movie could well become the first to record a ₹50 crore collection on a weekday.

• As things stand, it is possible for Dhurandhar 2 to get past the ₹1,000 crore mark in its opening week itself. If accomplished, it would be a remarkable feat, as even Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule could not get it done despite humbling several box office records. It is also worth mentioning that Dhurandhar 2's box office collection is the biggest-ever opening weekend globally in the Hindi film industry's history, and it is only behind Pushpa 2: The Rule at the national level. • In another report, the box office tracking platform said that Dhurandhar: The Revenge has "already grossed around $11 million through Saturday in North America. The extended 4-day weekend is estimated at $13.5 million, which is the record for an Indian film in the region, beating Kalki 2898 AD's $11.2 million. This explosive start has firmly placed the film among the biggest overseas openers ever for Indian cinema."
