With a third season of The Night Agent on the way sooner than expected, the popularity of the Netflix action thriller series, headlined by actor Gabriel Basso as FBI agent Peter Sutherland, has already been solidified.

Based on the book of the same name by Matthew Quirk, the show, which has Shawn Ryan involved as creator, showrunner, and executive producer, returns to Netflix on February 19.

Basso's Season 3 co-stars include Louis Herthum as intelligence broker, Jacob Monroe, aside from returning cast member Amanda Warren, who plays Peter’s handler, Catherine Weaver. Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ward Horton, and Albert Jones have been confirmed as series regulars alongside other Season 3 cast members David Lyons, Jennifer Morrison, Stephen Moyer, Genesis Rodriguez, and Callum Vinson. Appearing in a recurring role is Suraj Sharma ("Life of Pi").

Here's the official synopsis: "Night Agent Peter Sutherland is called in to track down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, while putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist. Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees — and get them both killed in the process."

Since the premiere of the first season on March 23, 2023, the series instantly rose to popularity, entering Top 10 streaming charts. The second season was greenlit immediately, a week after Season 1 began streaming. The third season was announced before the launch of Season 2 in January 23, 2025.
