As reported yesterday, Border 2 ended up experiencing a solid second Friday with the double digit mark breached just about. The war drama ended its eighth day with collections of Rs 10 crore nett in India, showing negligible drop in collections from its seventh day, all this despite a slight reduction in screen count.
The base was set for a superb second weekend with the eighth day figure being as it was, and Border 2 is recording a huge jump on its second Saturday across India. Morning shows began with a jump of about 5-10 percent in occupancy levels while the afternoon shows have almost doubled up from second Friday.
Evening and night shows have been the pillar of Border 2's box office performance till date and second Saturday will be no different. Families have appreciated the film's emotions and expect a huge figure on the ninth day. Early estimates indicate a bare minimum of Rs 15 crore nett and the day could end around Rs 16-18 crore nett.
With such a big jump on Saturday, the second weekend is set to be around Rs 45-50 crore nett for Border 2, which would take the 10-day figures in India to approximately Rs 265 crore nett. The drop on weekdays is what will be crucial to Border 2's lifetime figures because weekend jumps seem to be inevitable with the family support.
A lifetime figure of Rs 500 crore nett is what Border 2 will need to achieve, especially after the hurricane start that it had. The big drop across the weekdays does hint at this being improbable but stranger things have happened.
