Border 2 recorded a sensational extended four-day weekend and also managed a superb hold on its first Tuesday although that was also due to the discounted offers on major ticketing platforms. Nevertheless, the first five days for Border 2 saw the film recording Rs 195 crore nett approximately.
Considering the monumental graph on Sunday and Monday, when it collected Rs 52 crore nett and Rs 57 crore nett respectively, Border 2 would have been expected to do a lot more business on its first Tuesday. That said, a figure of Rs 20 crore nett is also quite impressive in today's age of front-loaded commercial cinema.
Not every blockbuster can match Dhurandhar's mania at the box office as those films happen once in a blue moon. Border 2 will go past the Rs 200 crore nett mark in India today and to do it in just six days is a fantastic achievement. However, the cause for worry is that the film is showing first signs of a significant drop.
The morning shows on the sixth day had about 5 percent drop while the afternoon shows also were lower than Tuesday's occupancy levels. Jump is expected in the evening and night shows but initial trends are hinting at a figure of around Rs 14-15 crore nett. Night shows become crucial on weekdays as they could dent the estimates or propel them, depending on how they fare.
After six days, Border 2 is projected to be arouns Rs 209-210 crore nett and is expected to finish its first seven days at close to Rs 220 crore nett. The film is already a HIT, perhaps even a SUPERHIT but will need to trend better if it has to gain the BLOCKBUSTER verdict at the box office.
