Weeks after courting controversy of a cancelled wedding with cricketer Smriti Mandhana, singer and music composer Palash Muchhal has landed in another trouble and this time its is legal. Muchhal was accused of cheating a man of Rs 40 lakh, according to a police complaint.
Vidnyan Mane, a financier, approached Sangli police seeking an FIR against Palash, claiming the latter took money from him for the production of a film but did not return it after the project was called off. He has submitted transaction details and other evidence along with his complaint to Sangli superintendent of police.
Interestingly, Mane is a childhood friend of Smriti Mandhana and her father had introduced him to Palash when they met in Sangli on December 5, 2023.
According to the complaint, Palash allegedly reached out to Mane with a proposal to invest Rs 25 lakh in a film, titled Nazariya. He allegedly promised Mane that once the film airs on OTT platform, he can earn a profit of Rs 12 lakh. Palash allegedly also offered him a role in the movie.
The complaint further says that Mane allegedly transferred a total of Rs 40 lakh to Palash as of March 2025. However, the project was never completed and when Mane demanded his money back, Palash allegedly blocked his number.
The wedding of Palash and Smriti was called off on November 23 after her father was hospitalised. The latest development comes as Palash is gearing up for his next directorial, featuring actor Shreyas Talpade.
