It has taken 32 days but Dhurandhar is finally experiencing a drop at the domestic box office. For the first time since its release on December 5, the film started morning shows with less than 10 percent occupancy and the afternoon shows haven't shown the customary jump as seen in previous weeks. However, none of this is unexpected or shocking.
January 5 marks the end of the long Christmas-New Year vacation season that sees schools and colleges across the country reopening after the long holidays. Moreover, Dhurandhar has already had 31 record-smashing days at the box office with collections close to Rs 732 crore nett in India.
On Day 32, early estimates indicate that Dhurandhar will be right on the brink of breaking Pushpa 2's Hindi nett record in India. A better trend in collections could have seen the feat being achieved today itself. Nevertheless, that formality will be completed on Day 33. Current trends indicate Rs 4-5 crore nett on its 32nd day for Dhurandhar.

This will take its 32-day figures in India to Rs 736-737 crore nett and Pushpa 2's lifetime Hindi nett of Rs 738 crore nett will only be a whisker away. Dhurandhar is also extraordinary in overseas territories, fast approaching the $35 million milestone and to do this without release in Gulf countries is a stupendous achievement.
Once the Pongal-Sankranti releases hit theatres in the coming week, there will be huge screen reductions for Dhurandhar, especially in south where a cluster of films are set to release.
