As Dhurandhar is set to complete a month in theatres this week, the Information & Broadcast Ministry has asked the producers to remove certain words from the film, among other changes.
Th spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh is directed by Aditya Dhar, who is known for helming Uri: the Surgical Strike.
The changes in the theatre versions of Dhurandhar came into effect from January 1. The film's distributors sent an email to the theatre exhibitors on December 31, informing that the film's Digital Cinema Package (DCP) will be replaced, according to a report by Bollywood Hungama.
"The cinemas were requested to download the new content and play the revised version of the film from January 1, 2026," the new outlet quoted a source as saying.
It has been revealed that one of the words removed in the new version was 'Baloch', according to the report. The ministry also asked the makers to mute another word and a dialogue in the revised version.
Prior to its release, the censor board gave Dhurandhar an A certificate because of its extreme and gory violence. It was released with a finalised runtime of 214 minutes. Besides Ranveer Singh, the cast also includes Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
Dhurandhar has been banned in Pakistan and some Gulf countries over anti-Islamabad content. However, reports revealed that Pakistani users have been accessing torrents and piracy links via servers in Sri Lanka, Nepal and Malaysia.
Produced at a budget of Rs 280 crore, Dhurandhar has earned Rs 867.9 crore in gross domestic collection and Rs 250 crore in overseas collection. This takes the total worldwide earnings to Rs 1,117.9 crore in 27 days.
