Industry veterans Chiranjeevi and Mohanlal might soon be seen together in a single film. Strangely, the two South superstars have never shared the screen despite being from the same generation. Latest buzz in the Telugu film industry indicates that Mohanlal is set to join Chiranjeevi's next film with Bobby Kolli.
Kolli has previously directed the blockbuster Waltair Veerayya with Chiranjeevi and his film Daaku Maharaaj with Nandamuri Balakrishna was also a massive success. The latest Chiranjeevi project will be the Mega Star's 158th film and has been tentatively titled as #Chiru158. Reports state that the initial round of talks with Mohanlal have been fruitful.
Multiple trade handles from the Telugu industry have started to spread this news on social media. An official confirmation is awaited from Chiranjeevi or the producers regarding Mohanlal's inclusion. Currently, Tollywood's Mega Star is gearing up for upcoming Sankranti release Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu that also features Nayantara in the lead.
Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu is slated to release on 12th January 2026. Meanwhile, Mohanlal is basking in the glory of a sensational 2025 where all three of his releases were box office blockbusters. Empuraan and Thudarum were both all-time blockbusters while Hridayapoorvam was a blockbuster. Two of his re-release films, Chotta Mumbai and Ravanaprabhu, were also runaway hits.
Mohanlal's last appearance in a Telugu film came this year in Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa. The Chiranjeevi-Kolli project is expected to go on floors in the first half of 2026 and an announcement on the cast is expected soon.
