Suriya's "Karuppu" has been doing a daily business of nearly 5 crore even on its 14th day, solidifying its position as one of the most profitable ventures in Tamil cinema, having already established in its first week that it's Suriya's highest-grossing film of all time. It now remains to be seen whether the film can beat some of the best from the last two years.
As per Sacnilk figures, the cumulative domestic gross now stands at Rs 194.55 crore and total India net collections at Rs 168.15 crore. Combined with the overseas gross of Rs 72.50 crore earned so far, the worldwide total has reached Rs 267.05 crore.
This places "Karuppu" as the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of 2026. It has outperformed many massive "pan-India" releases and Bollywood releases of this year that were expected to do well but fell short. For example, "Karuppu" has done better worldwide than Prabhas's high-budget fantasy movie "The Raja Saab" (Rs 208.38 crore), Rajnikanth's "Vettaiyan", Ajith's "Vidaamuyarchi", and is already en route to beat the current lifetime gross of Akshay Kumar’s horror-comedy "Bhooth Bangla" (Rs 284.56 crore lifetime). If it continues the same performance in the third week, it could easily reach the same number or even surpass it.
Interestingly, it has surpassed "Bhooth Bangla" and "Vaazha 2" in domestic net collections. Before Karuppu, the last Tamil film to comfortably cross the coveted Rs 100 crore milestone locally in Tamil Nadu was Rajinikanth's "Coolie" in August 2025. "Karuppu", directed by RJ Balaji, is the first Tamil film in nine months to cross the Rs 100 crore milestone inside Tamil Nadu alone.
As of now, Sivakarthikeyan’s "Amaran" remains the highest-grossing recent non-Vijay movie at Rs 331 crore, and "Karuppu" is expected to outperform it soon.
