Coming off the success of Kalamkaval, Mammootty has announced his next exciting project. It's a reunion with a Malayalam filmmaker with whom the megaster worked earlier. Khalid Rahman will direct Mammootty for the second time after Unda. It's being backed by Shareef Muhammed, under the banner Cubes Entertainment, the company behind Unni Mukundan's Marco and the upcoming Anthony Varghese-starrer Kaattalan.

Reportedly a big-scale project featuring heavyweights from both Malayalam and Indian cinema, the as-yet-untitled feature comes from writer Niyog Krishna, who is also the brains behind director Rohith VS's upcoming Asif Ali action spectacle Tiki Taka.
Suhas and Sharfu, the writing duo behind Fahadh Faasil-Amal Neerad's Varathan and the recent Aashiq Abu actioner Rifle Club, are involved as writers alongside Niyog. It is said to be a grand tribute vehicle for Mammootty.
The behind-the-scenes buzz seems to hint at probably the biggest project of Khalid's career.
The news comes with high hopes considering the actor-director team's success (both critical and commercial) with Unda, which showcased another side of Mammootty the actor, in the role of an ageing police officer leading a team of junior officers on election duty.
Khalid Rahman's last film, Alappuzha Gymkhana, was a solid success at the box office, with the direction and performances of actors garnering mostly positive feedback from critics and audiences.
