The Dhurandhar juggernaut is unstoppable and it has become a household name, probably the first such Bollywood film in a decade. The last such Indian film to have a pan-India craze of unprecedented levels was the Baahubali series. The first part of that SS Rajamouli directorial didn't have the same theatrical success as Dhurandhar is having now, but that was due to it being a dubbed film.
However, Baahubali became such a storm and Baahubali 2 then decimated the box office to set new benchmarks that took years to be broken. With Dhurandhar, the first part itself has done the dual job of being a cultural phenomenon and box office hysteria. It is easily set to be a Rs 500 crore nett grosser in India, which would be Ranveer Singh's first such film and Rs 600 crore nett also looks very much on.
On Day 8, Dhurandhar became the first film to breach Rs 25 crore nett and Rs 30 crore nett on its second Friday. If you thought this was incredible, the ninth day business was beyond imagination as it clocked Rs 50 crore nett. UNPRECEDENTED! The hype train continues to motor along and another Rs 50 crore nett day is a given on the tenth day, and it is only a question of how much more it can add to that.
Early estimates suggest at least Rs 55 crore nett for Dhurandhar on its second Sunday and with the way the evening/night shows are performing, the final figure could higher too. The only obstacle is the India-South Africa T20I match in the evening and this could play a small part in preventing the prime time shows from gaining optimal results.
Nevertheless, the ten-day figures of Dhurandhar should touch Rs 320 crore nett and the Rs 400 crore nett mark should be hit before the next Friday. With exceptional trending and extra shows being added by the minute, it is hard to tell where Dhurandhar will finish at its theatrical run. For now, anything and everything is possible.
