It was a phenomenal start for Akhanda 2 at the domestic box office. Despite being postponed by a week and facing mixed reviews in the early morning shows, Nandamuri Balakrishna's latest film took a superb start on its opening day. Including the paid premieres conducted on Thursday (December 11) night, Akhanda 2 collected close to Rs 31 crore nett in India.
Effectively, the film clocked approximately Rs 23 crore nett on its opening day with Rs 8 crore nett coming from the paid premieres. While it does have the sequel hype due to Akhanda's blockbuster success in 2021, the mixed reviews were a challenge but Akhanda 2 has neutralised the early threat with a superb show.
Telugu films are known to show drops on their second day, especially in the Telugu states as that is the financial model of those films with a huge chunk of shows on the opening day being sold at astromonical prices. It is from the second day that the theatres have their usual ticket prices and hence, the challenge is for films to show negligible drop in collections.

As per early trends, Akhanda 2 is on track for about Rs 17-18 crore nett in India, which would be a sensational hold for the film on its second day. These are just early estimates and could vary, like it did on the opening day when the evening and night shows went berserk in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
There is an outside chance for Akhanda 2 to touch the opening day figures and that would be a historic second day for the film. The evening and night shows on Saturday are also in overdrive, and a massive weekend is assured. The occupancy levels are hinting at another blockbuster for Nandamuri Balakrishna.
