Just a day ahead of the verdict on the actress assault case is to be delivered, new details on the sensational case have emerged. There was reportedly an earlier attempt to sexually assault the actress in Goa, on January 3, 2017, nearly a month before the actual incident that sent shockwaves across the country.
A report in Asianet News mentions that there was a plan to rape the actress in Goa when she had gone there to shoot a movie. It has been revealed that Pulsar Suni, the first accused in the case, picked her up from the airport on the aforementioned date, and that he continued to work as a driver in the subsequent days.
Furthermore, the prosecution has reportedly informed the court during the trial that on January 3, Sunil made a request to a man named Senthil Kumar for a vehicle to commit the crime.
The report also mentions that Senthil Kumar, who has been named the 173rd witness in the case, made calls to the second accused, Martin, and the third accused, Manikandan, from Goa.
The group had apparently hoped they could carry out the plan when the actress travelled from Goa to Kerala by road.
However, their plans went awry when the actress decided to return to Kerala on January 5. The group then decided to orchestrate the plan on February 17, 2017, instead.
The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court is set to pronounce the verdict on the case, in which Dileep is the eighth accused, tomorrow (Dec. 8). The proceedings will begin at 11 am.
Pulsar Suni, who raped the actress and recorded it, is the first accused in the case. A total of 10, including six who are directly linked to the crime, have been the subjects of the nearly eight-year-long inquiry.
The case against Dileep is that he delivered the quotation as a result of a personal enmity against the actress, after she informed Dileep's ex-wife Manju Warrier about his affair with his current wife, Kavya Madhavan.
Dileep, however, has been strongly arguing that he was falsely implicated and that the prosecution had fabricated the evidence that was used against him.
