Contrary to expectations, Aanand L Rai's Tere Ishk Mein took a sensational opening day across India. It not only opened bigger than films like Jolly LLB 3 and Sitaare Zameen Par, but also beat their first day numbers comfortably. The first day figures of the film came to around 15-16 crore nett including Hindi and Tamil versions. This means a gross figure of roughly Rs 18 crore in India.
With such an outstanding opening, it is not realistic to expect a much bigger second day for a film of this scale. Also, the initial reports to the film are mixed and the acceptance might not be there for a long run. Regardless, Tere Ishk Mein is enjoying another superb day, with the advance booking remaining on par with the opening day.
There isn't a noticeable jump in occupancy for the morning and afternoon show when you compare it with Friday. However, it has managed to show a solid hold in its collections and according to trends, it could have another day in the vicinity of Rs 14-15 crore nett in India. Adding the Tamil version, it should be another Rs 15 crore nett for Tere Ishk Mein in India.
Where films like Sitaare Zameen Par and Jolly LLB 3 scored was through their big trends across the weekend. The Aamir Khan starrer doubled up on its second day and then went 30 percent up from the second day to record a brilliant weekend. Meanwhile, Jolly LLB 3 also showed a sharp weekend trend to get Rs 50 crore nett in its first three days.
Judging from its trajectory, Tere Ishk Mein is likely to end up with a weekend figure lesser than these two films but unlike the Akshay Kumar starrer which ended up as a flop, this has a realistic chance of being a HIT film. That, though, will be decided by the Monday figures and its trend on weekdays.
