The upcoming third season of The Family Man, to premiere on Nov. 21, looks extra special chiefly because of the stellar cast. The combination of Manoj Bajpayee and Priyamani teaming up with Jaideep Ahlawat (Paatal Lok) and Nimrat Kaur (The Lunchbox) is enticing enough. The last two actors play antagonists in another potentially thrilling outing that promises to make things more complicated for Bajpayee's intelligence officer Srikanth Tiwari.
Ahlawat, whose character is named Rukma, says this season is "bigger than" the first two seasons — at least that was what he was told by creators Raj & Dk, who return to the directing chair after their last Prime Video adventure Farzi, starring Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi. "They narrated a basic structure of the entire story, and it was an entirely different world,” Ahlawat told PTI.
The thought of working with Bajpayee was, to Ahlawat, a "no-brainer."
Talking about his character, the Three of Us actor shared, "When I was reading the script, I couldn't picture Rukma the way it is now. There was a picture in the minds of Raj and DK of how Rukma should look. The character doesn't really care about anything. His detachment often conveys a vibe of him being inhuman, but he actually isn't so.”
Comparing his character to Bajpayee's, Ahlawat calls Srikant a "socially accepted family man", whereas Rukma is an "unacceptable family man.”
Season 3 will see Srikanth on the run, while trying to protect his loved ones.
Written by Suman Kumar, Raj & DK, with additional screenplay written by Sudhish Kamath and Nikhil Gonsalves, the show has dialogues by Sumit Arora.
