'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' to have a sequel after 23 years of its release

Kate Hudson and Mathew McConaughey might be ready to play the game of lovers once again. A sequel to the 2003 romantic comedy “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” is reportedly in the early stages of development, twenty-three years after the release of the beloved original

Kate Hudson, who played Andie Anderson in the original film, has reportedly signed on to develop and produce the sequel. Producer Stacey Sher will also be involved in the project through her Shiny Penny Productions.

While no plot details have been finalised, the filmmakers are reportedly hoping that Hudson and McConaughey will reprise their roles as Andie and advertising executive Benjamin Barry. However, their return will depend on the writers brought on board for the project.

The 2003 film followed Andie, who set out to write a magazine article on how to drive a man away in just 10 days. Unbeknownst to her, Ben has his own agenda: he has made a bet that he can make any woman fall in love with him within the same time frame. What follows is a chaotic battle of manipulation, misunderstandings and increasingly absurd romantic gestures, with the two eventually falling for each other.

The film eventually became a major box-office success, grossing nearly $178 million worldwide, and remains a defining romantic comedy of the early 2000s. Its popularity has endured over the years, particularly because of the chemistry between Hudson and McConaughey.

However, the prospect of a sequel has also divided fans online. While many are excited about the possibility of seeing Andie and Ben return, others have questioned whether the story needs to continue at all.

For now, the sequel remains in early development, with a screenwriter, plot and final cast yet to be announced. But if Hudson and McConaughey do return, audiences may once again find themselves asking whether love can really survive another 10-day challenge.
