They say he is “more of a household name than the Prime Minister.” He was on the front page of every newspaper. People believed he had magical powers. Or was it just his network of associates who made his escapes possible?

In Tee Yai: Born to be Bad, acclaimed Thai filmmaker Nonzee Nimibutr aims to present a different, more realistic side of outlaw Tee Yai's adventures in the 1970s, which resulted in fatalities and significant property damage.

Actor Apo-Nattawin Wattanagitiphat plays the legendary figure who was said to be the most wanted man in Thailand.

"Tee Yai: Born to be Bad is the story of an outlaw from the past whose tales we've heard countless times. However, this time, I would like to present an alternative perspective that has not been previously discussed. His numerous escapes were rumored to be due to magic, but I believe there were close allies or trusted friends who helped him, working behind the scenes and overcoming obstacles together to survive every time. Because I believe a great outlaw like Tee Yai didn't walk this path alone. This is the new perspective I want audiences to experience," said director and co-writer Nonzee Nimibutr in an official statement.

The trailer reveals a retro-tinged film recalling the cinema of the time in which the events take place.

Revolving around the partnership between Tee Yai and his best friend and calm confidante, Rerk (Most-Wisarut Himmarat), Tee Yai: Born to be Bad will tell a tale of true crime and brotherhood, in which the duo orchestrates multiple heists and attains legendary status.

However, things get complicated when a woman enters the latter's life, eventually creating a rift between the two men. To make things worse, the police are hot on their trail, striving to prove that Tee Yai has no magical powers and that he is being helped by ordinary mortals like us.

Aside from Apo-Nattawin Wattanagitiphat and Most-Wisarut Himmarat, Tee Yai: Born to be Bad also stars Kao-Supassara Thanachat, Cris Horwang, Nont-Sadanont Durongkavarojana, Foei-Patara Eksangkul, and Bront Palarae.

Tee Yai: Born to be Bad will begin streaming on Netflix from November 13.
