Kerala State Film Awards: Here is the announcement date and list of final nominees for best actor and best actress

2024 was a glorious year for Malayalam cinema, both in terms of the box office as well as the quality of films. There have been a plethora of stellar performances both amongst in the actors and actresses categories. As a result, it is a very interesting finale with each of the nominees equally capable and deserving to win the award.

Best Actor nominees

In the Best Actor category, reports indicate four names who are in the race for the award. Mammootty leads the way for his incredible act in Bramayugam directed by Rahul Sadasivan. Meanwhile, the other veteran powerhouse Mohanlal also makes the cut for his performance in Malaikottai Valiban directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery.

Asif Ali, who has had an excellent phase in the last few years, is also in the final round for his remarkable performance in Kishkindha Kaandam. The final name in the Best Actor nominee list is Tovino Thomas for his multiple roles in Ajayante Randam Moshanam. It is indeed a closely-fought contest

Best Actress nominees

The battle for the Best Actress is also very intense with four powerful nominees in the list. Nazriya Nazim makes the shortlist for layered performance in the thriller Sookshamadarshini directed by MC Jithin. Meanwhile, Anaswara Rajan gets her first nomination for her wonderfully enacted role in Rekhachitram.

The other major nomination in the category is for Kani Kusruti for her performance in All We Imagine As Light. Her co-star in the same film, Divya Prabha, is also in the list and that increased the probabilty of their film getting the coveted award.

Announcement date

According to sources, the Kerala Film State Awards are expected to be announced on 1st November 2025 with the occasion of Kerala Piravi (Kerala Foundation Day) being considered as the ideal date. An official announcement on this is awaited.
