After Asif Ali's Tiki Taka, T-Series Films and Panorama Studios are backing another high-profile Malayalam project.
Kunchacko Boban (Nayattu, Officer on Duty) and Lijomol (Maheshinte Prathikaram, Jai Bhim) will headline this yet-untitled thriller, which marks the directorial debut of acclaimed editor Kiran Das, known for Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum and Moothon.
He will direct the script by policeman-turned-screenwriter Shahi Kabir, of Nayattu, Joseph, Officer On Duty, and Ronth fame. Kiran Das has worked as an editor on Joseph.
Kunchacko Boban shared the update on his Instagram handle, along with pictures from the kickoff ceremony.
Arjun Sethu, who shot Painkili and Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham, is the director of photography. He has earlier worked in the camera department of several critically acclaimed films such as Kumbalangi Nights, Anjaam Pathira, Nayattu, Joji, and Manjummel Boys.
Kiran Das himself will edit the film, while Justin Varghese (Ponman, Super Sharanya) handles the music. Dileep Nath (Nayattu, Jana Gana Mana) is the production designer.
The news of another reunion from Shahi Kabir and Kunchacko Boban is exciting considering their successful two previous collaborations. Officer on Duty, released earlier this year, was the actor's biggest hit after Anjaam Pathira. Nayattu fetched nationwide acclaim.
With his last release Ronth, Shahi Kabir has, as a a filmmaker and screenwriter, firmly established himself as a creator of haunting stories that take a while to shake off — in a good way. The film, starring Roshan Mathew and Dileesh Pothan, marked his second directorial after Ela Veezha Poonchira, and was a refreshingly bleak twist on the buddy cop thriller.
