If you were an Indian kid growing up in the 1990s and beyond, it is inevitable to not be influenced by the World Wrestling Environment (WWE). The US-based phenomenon caused a stir across the globe, making a huge fanbase in India as well. Now, Indian cinema is all set to witness its first full-fledged film based on WWE through the Malayalam film Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies.

Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies is an action film that stars the youth bridge of Mollywood in Roshan Mathew, Arjun Ashokan, Vishak Nair and Ishan Shoukath. It is fully inspired by the WWE phenomenon and now the film is set to become bigger with the entry of the veteran superstar Mammootty. The maestro actor is slated to do an important cameo in the film and has allotted five days of shoot for the project.

Due to his long absence due to illness, Mammootty's portions were understandably delayed but now, the word is that the Megastar's portions will be canned in the coming weeks. Directed by Adhvaith Nayar, the film sees the Malayalam debut of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and is expected to release at the fag end of 2025, although a release date hasn't been locked yet.

There has been only film that had a WWE reference in Indian cinema before, Akshay Kumar's 1996 film Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, an action film which had WWE matches as a sub-plot. However, Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies is expected to have the sport as the main theme and hence, we can expect a lot more wrestling content in it.

Apart from all the excitement around the film's lead cast and theme, Mammotty's cameo is also likely to increase the hype levels around this project.
