The records continue to tumble for Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra as it endured a sensational fifth weekend across the globe. In Kerala alone, the film clocked approximately Rs 3.80 crore, showcasing a phenomenal upward trend on Saturday and Sunday (Day 31 and Day 32). At the end of 32 days, the film's India gross stands at Rs 170.08 crore, making it the top-grossing Malayalam film in India, beating Manjummel Boys (Rs 168 crore) to the throne. This milestone comes a day after the makes announced the sequel Lokah Chapter 2: Michael through a promo featuring Tovino Thomas and Dulquer Salmaan.
The Kerala gross after Day 32 is Rs 111.80 crore, needing another Rs 8.20 crore to upstage Thudarum from the top spot in the list of highest grossers in Kerala. There are two major releases in Kantara: Chapter 1 and Idli Kadai which could eat into its screencount in a big way. However, if Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra managed to retain a decent amount of screens, it could still collect steadily as the box office trends show no signs of a slowdown just yet. Dulquer Salmaan's public statement about delaying the film's OTT release also works in its favour, given the immense theatrical experience it offers to viewers.
How the film performs in its sixth week will also depend on the fate of Kantara: Chapter 1 and Idli Kadai. If these two films both gain hugely positive reviews, it could dent Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra in its pursuit of being the top Kerala grosser. It would still continue to collect but at much lower levels and that would make those Rs 8-9 crore a difficult task to attain. But if even of the two new releases gets mixed to negative feedback, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra could get to the milestone in its next weekend itself. There is also a Hindi release in the form of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari but it is not really expected to affect Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.
