Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films announces Lokah Chapter:2 with extended clip showcasing Micheal and Charlie

Dulquer Salmaan released an extended clip for the Lokah Cinematic Universe on Youtube announcing the second instalment of the franchise Lokah Chapter:2. In a video titled 'When Legends Chill: Michael and Charlie' the two cameo charcters who appeared briefly in the first film, hang out and discuss the future installments. 

The video sets the tone for what to expect in the second film which will star Tovino Thomas as the folkloric character of Chaathan who goes by Michael.

Michael sits with Dulquer Salmaan's character and shares that "his brother was released" and askes him to help out. The scene hints at the plot of Chapter 2 and what it could look like. 

Lokah Chapter:2 will also be written and directed by Dominic Arun.

Wayfarer Films had teased the drop the day before on social media. The post said, “Something’s dropping tomorrow! 11:11 am surprise, stay locked in.” The post was accompanied by the Lokah universe logo on a poster. The announcement post was delayed by an hour due to a technical glitch. 

The Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer Lokah Chapter 1- Chandra is the year's biggest Malayalam hit. Written and directed by Dominic Arun, the film features India’s first female superhero. The story blends local myths, folklore and the superhero genre.

Since its release, the film has proved to be a box office success and received widespread acclaim for its writing, direction, and visuals. On its 30th day, the film earned ₹85 lakh, according to the website Sacnilk. Its total box office collection just in India is around ₹142.90 crore.

The total earnings for the fourth week stand at an impressive ₹13.25 crore. The film is close to crossing the ₹300 crore mark at the box office worldwide this week.

The superhero fantasy film has continued to attract audiences to the big screens.

Last week, Lokah producer Dulquer Salmaan said in a post on X that the film “isn't coming to OTT anytime soon. Ignore the fake news and stay tuned for official announcements! #Lokah #WhatstheHurry”

The film, which runs for 151 minutes, may not be available on OTT soon for good reasons.

Meanwhile, production house Wayfarer Films is preparing the next four titles in the franchise.
