TV actress Sumona Chakravarti has now deleted an Instagram post she made on Sunday, in which she had alleged that she felt unsafe in South Mumbai after an incident with Maratha quota protesters.
However, the 'Bade Acche Lagte Hain' fame—also known for playing Kapil Sharma's on-screen wife in 'Comedy Nights with Kapil'—has not clarified any reason for deleting the post. She also reposted a reel by author-columnist Shobhaa De, speaking about the situation at the Maratha protests.
In the long, now-deleted post, Chakravarti had explained how her car was mobbed by protesters during a "drive from Colaba to Fort" on the third day of the large-scale demonstration led by Manoj Jarange at Azad Maidan.
Thousands of protesters have been demanding a 10 per cent reservation for Marathas under the Other Backward Castes (OBC) category.
"One man with an orange stole banging on my bonnet, smirking. Pressing his protruding belly against my car. Shimmying in front of me like he’s proving some sick point. His friends banging on my windows, shouting “Jai Maharashtra!" & laughing. We moved a little ahead & repeat of the same thing. Twice in a span of 5 mins," she claimed, in the post.
She alleged that no policemen were in sight during her scary encounter with the protesters.
"Feeling unsafe in my car in broad daylight in a place like South Bombay," she added.

The 'Bade Acche Lagte Hain' actress also questioned how protesters were cooking, bathing, making video calls and reels, and openly defecating at the venue—all in the name of the protest. She also said that the roads and footpaths were littered with plastic bottles, banana peels, and garbage.
"I'm left disturbed," the 37-year-old lamented in the now-deleted post, adding that she was thankful she was not alone in the car at the time.
