Popular Marathi and Hindi serial actress Priya Marathe died today due to cancer at the age of 38. Local reports said that the actress breathed her last on Sunday at 4 am at Mira Road.
The actress is primarily known in the Marathi and Hindi entertainment industries. Priya Marathe Moghe was the daughter-in-law of Shrikant Moghe and the wife of Shantanu Moghe, whom she married in 2012.
She had been battling cancer for the past two and a half years. The actress’s last post on social media was on August 11, 2024.
She was known for her roles in Marathi serials like Ya Sukhno Ya, Char Divas Sasu, Tu Tithan Mee, Almost Sufal Sampoorna, and Yeu Kashi Kashi Mee Nandayala. She made her television debut with the TV serial 'Ya Sukhno Yaa' in 2008. 'Kasam Se' was her Hindi TV debut.
Her last work as ‘Monica Kamant’, which also made her popular, was in the serial 'Tujhech Mee Geet Gaat Ahe', which she had to leave midway due to her illness.
On one of her posts on social media, she explained her reason for quitting to her fans, saying that it was due to her health. "I am saying goodbye to the serial 'Tujhe Mee Geet Gaat Ahe' due to health reasons. I was very happy to play the role of Monica in this serial, but it is very difficult to balance both the shooting schedule and my health. My health problem has also arisen suddenly. I received a lot of love from the audience for the role of Monica. But as per the needs of the serial team, I could not give them enough time. That is why I have decided to stop this journey here," she said
Priya also appeared in the film 'Vighnaharta Mahaganapati', which was released in 2016, and played an important role in 'Kiran Kulkarni vs. Kiran Kulkarni',
'Pavitra Rishta' and the role of the villain Bhavani Rathod in 'Saath Nibhaana Saathiya' were some of her most popular roles.
Priya was a household name in small-screen serials. Her last rites will be performed on August 31, 2025, at 4 pm
