‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’ initial reviews: Netizens call the film a ‘missed opportunity’

After multiple delays spanning three years, the Pawan Kalyan-starrer Hari Hara Veera Mallu has finally hit Indian screens on Thursday. The film was initially slated to hit theatres in 2022, but was delayed twice that year alone. Due to Kalyan’s political commitments, scheduling conflicts, and post-production hurdles, the release lagged but finally locked in on July 24.

With Kalyan’s star power and persistent urge from fans who have been longing for the release, theatres in Andhra Pradesh were packed on Thursday morning. But what do viewers have to say about the film? The general consensus is mixed. While the audience found the first half engaging, the latter portion missed the mark due to a flimsy narrative and shoddy VFX.

One superfan described the film as a “cinematic ride”, praising the actor’s presence in the film that delves deep into history.  

Another user drew parallels between Kalyan’s on-screen charisma and his leadership of the Janasena Party.  

One post sang praises of Kalyan and described the film as a “visual epic steeped in baroque opulence and anti-imperial fervour”.  

Meanwhile, one netizen had a mixed response. While they found M.M. Keeravani’s musical composition delightful, they ultimately saw the film as a “missed opportunity”.  

Another found the film disappointing and felt that Nidhi Agarwal’s presence in the film was wasted.
