Dhanush’s 54th film, tentatively titled D54, has officially gone on the floors. Vels Film International, backing the production, announced on their social media platforms that the cameras for the film began rolling on Thursday.

The poster features Dhanush’s lone character in a wilted cotton field affected by the scorching fire seen from afar with smoke rising on the horizon. “Sometimes staying dangerous is the only way to stay alive,” the post captioned.

The film will be helmed by Vignesh Raja who made his directorial debut in the 2023 Tamil thriller Por Thozhil, starring R. Sarathkumar and Ashok Selvan. For Raja’s first, the film earned rave reviews and was a commercial success.

D54 features a mixed ensemble from Mollywood and Tollywood. Aside from Dhanush, the film also reportedly stars Mamitha Baiju, K.S. Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunas, Jayaram, and Pritivi Pandiraj. Ishari K. Ganesh bankrolls the production under his Vels Film International banner.
