Apple TV+ has released a spectacular new trailer for Season 3 of Foundation, the mammoth space opera based on Issac Asimov's books of the same name. Created by David S. Goyer, the man behind the scripts of such cerebral sci-fi films as Dark City, 'Blade' trilogy, and I, Robot alongside Josh Friedman, known for writing contributions to Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Foundation is headlined by Jared Harris, Lee Pace and star Lou Llobell. The two seasons have already garnered significant critical acclaim, with the second currently having a perfect 100% score on RottenTomatoes.

The new season will begin streaming on July 11, with a total of ten episodes, with each episode dropped weekly, leading up to the finale slated for September 12. The first and second seasons won over many hardcore sci-fi fans owing to its stunning and imaginative visuals, flawless visual effects, and immersive world-building that recall popular franchises of the same ilk such as Star Wars and Star Trek. While the show is not fully faithful to the source material, it borrows the basic plot points of Asimov's work, thereby making it more cinematic and viewing-friendly.

Produced by the television wing of Skydance, the same company that was one of the backers of the recent blockbusters beginning with Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation to The Final Reckoning and Top Gun: Maverick, the third season will see actors Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann and Rowena King returning from the previous seasons, alongside new additions in the form of Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones, Brandon P. Bell, Synnøve Karlsen, Cody Fern, Tómas Lemarquis, Alexander Siddig, Academy Award winner Troy Kotsur and Pilou Asbæk.

As per the official logline, Season 3 takes place 152 years after the events of season two. "The Foundation has become increasingly established far beyond its humble beginnings while the Cleonic Dynasty’s Empire has dwindled. As both of these galactic powers forge an uneasy alliance, a threat to the entire galaxy appears in the fearsome form of a warlord known as “The Mule,” whose sights are set on ruling the universe by use of physical and military force as well as mind control. It’s anyone’s guess who will win, who will lose, who will live and who will die as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons and Demerzel play a potentially deadly game of intergalactic chess," reads the synopsis.
