Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is gearing up for one of the most thrilling collaborations Indian cinema has ever seen—a high-octane superhero action film, with none other than Tamil cinema’s powerhouse director Lokesh Kanagaraj!
The actor confirmed the news during a recent press interaction in Mumbai, revealing that the big-budget spectacle is locked in and set to go on floors in the second half of 2026.
Talking to PTI, he said:
“Lokesh and I are doing a film together. It’s a superhero film—a big-scale action outing. The film will begin in the second half of 2026. We have both signed it. I cannot reveal anything further”.
This marks Aamir’s debut collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj, a director renowned for gripping action cinema, with hits like 'Kaithi', 'Master', 'Vikram', and 'Leo' up his sleeve. Aamir, who has previously starred in action films like 'Ghulam', 'Baazi', 'Ghajini', and 'Dhoom 3', is all set to make a comeback to the genre.
Alongside this superhero venture, Aamir is also said to be carving his Tamil debut with a cameo appearance in 'Coolie', an upcoming film starring superstar Rajinikanth. While the nature of his role lingers in mystery and speculation, fans can definitely look forward to an exciting cameo, followed by a full-fledged collaboration with Lokesh.
Addressing the rumors regarding the sequel to 'PK', Aamir strongly denied the making of such a project, calling it a “rumor”. However, he has confirmed a biopic film on Dadasaheb Phalke—a project that reunites Aamir with director Rajkumar Hirani, his collaborator from 'PK'.

Another intriguing reveal that amazed netizens was Aamir’s mention of his dream project—an adaptation of the Mahabharata.
For years, Aamir has voiced his desire to bring the Indian epic to the screen.
“Mahabharat has been my dream for the last 25 years. A subject like that will require intense preparation. Unless I have walked that path and created an initial foundation, I cannot say if my dream will come true. But I am going to begin work on it,” he declared.
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is also gearing up for the release of 'Sitare Zameen Par', slated to hit Indian theatres this June 20. Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the feel-good sports comedy features Aamir as a fiery coach tasked with training a spirited basketball team of neurodivergent players. The film is a sequel to his beloved 2007 film 'Taare Zameen Par', and is based on the 2018 Spanish movie 'Champions'.
With a line-up that includes a superhero epic, a cinematic tribute to Indian cinema’s founding father, and perhaps even a long-awaited Mahabharata film, Aamir Khan appears to be entering one of the most ambitious phases of his career yet.
