Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney is all set to reprise her role as Cassie Howard in the highly anticipated third season of HBO's 'Euphoria'.
Returning to the role nearly three years after season two of the psychological drama premiered in January 2022, Sweeney explains that the upcoming installment of the show would be even more “unhinged” than before, as per an Empire report.
Sweeney explained that a “flawed” character like Cassie—her breakthrough role in a production that also involved Zendaya, Barbie Ferreira, Jacob Elordi and Colman Domingo—held a special place in her heart, and was “so much fun” to inhabit.
She also added that when complicated characters like Cassie led to Sweeney herself receiving hate and love in equal measure from audiences, it was a good sign that she had been “playing the character correctly”.
“I think that with the amount of access, with social media, and how much content gets put out there of Cassie ... People do have a hard time separating actors from their characters, and especially someone like Cassie,” she explained, relishing the experience of it all.
Sweeney, who had been 20 when 'Euphoria' first started filming, added that 7 years later, she still enjoyed filming for the HBO series, especially because of an able director like Sam Levinson, known for films like 'Malcolm and Marie', 'Pieces of a Woman' and 'Assassination Nation'.
The 27-year-old, who earned an Emmy nomination for her work in the second season of 'Euphoria', will next be seen in 'Echo Valley', a gripping psychological drama from Apple TV+ which releases this June, and 'The Housemaid', which releases this December, and is an adaptation of a psychological thriller novel.
The release date for season three of 'Euphoria' has not been confirmed yet.
