Rakesh Poojary, the 34-year-old Kannada comic actor and winner in Season 3 of Comedy Khiladigalu, a Kannada television show, passed away on Monday early morning.

Reports suggest that he suffered a cardiac arrest around 2 am while attending a mehndi ceremony in Nitte in Karkala taluk of Udupi district.

Actor and colleague Shivraj had reportedly confirmed that Rakesh, who was also a part of Kantara: Chapter 1, did not have any health problems earlier and that he had danced at his friend's wedding in his home town. At the same time, some reports suggest that Rakesh's sudden collapse was a result of low blood pressure. Kannada TV professionals and actors expressed condolences at his sudden demise. In his Instagram post, Shivraj  wrote, "How can we pray for the peace of the soul who gave smiles to so many hearts."

In his tribute on Instagram, actor Kirik Keerthi wrote that Rakesh was always a "cheerful, loving brother who used to talk to everyone as if they were his elder brother and sister. What a cruel fate at such a young age... Is this the age for a heart attack..? May you rest in eternal peace..."
