John Abraham is making a return to the big screens! After his only theatrical release in the year 2024, Vedaa, which turned out to be a box office bomb, the 52-year-old is currently gearing up for the release of his new film The Diplomat.
Based on real events, the film follows Indian diplomat J.P. Singh as he helps Uzma Ahmed, a woman forced into marrying a Pakistani, return to India. However, the job is tough as many consider her to be a traitor, accusing her of colluding with the enemy.
Helmed by Shivam Nair (Naam Shabana), the film stars John Abraham and Sadia Khateeb in lead roles along with Kumud Mishra, Sharib Hashmi, and Revathy in supporting roles. The Diplomat is bankrolled under Abraham’s own production banner, JA Entertainment, in collaboration with T Series Films and Wakaoo Films. The screenplay is penned by Ritesh Shah (Pink, Airlift).
This marks the second collaboration between Abraham and Khateeb, who previously worked together in the Netflix comedy-drama film Sardar Ka Grandson (2021), with Mishra also part of the cast. The Diplomat was first announced early 2024, while principle production began mid-2024, a significant portion filmed in the capital, Delhi.

Abraham has had a pretty dull couple of years in the Bollywood industry. Aside from Pathaan (2023), none of his films have found proper footing. But now, the actor is presented with an opportunity – an exclusive release over the upcoming Holi weekend, with no other major Indian film to compete against. Fingers crossed this film saves him from the box office slump he has been sinking in.
The Diplomat will arrive on the big screens on March 14.
