After gifting his fans hit films like Magadheera, Dhruva, Geetha Govindam, and Pratibandh, Allu Aravind is all set to launch his next production venture, Thandel. Starring South Indian icons Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, the romantic action thriller will be Aravind’s first production after Rohit Dhawan’s Shehzada, which tanked at the box office.
Ahead of the release of Thandel, the cast and crew headed to Hyderabad for their ongoing promotional campaign. During an interview, Aravind explained the specific casting choices made in the film, especially concerning Pallavi’s Satya.

Speaking with Galatta Plus, the producer explained, “I have taken Sai Pallavi, I should say it is a commercial decision. I can't bring somebody from Bombay; a beautiful white-skin girl from Bombay for this character. This is a very rooted character and the genuinity has to be projected. Sai Pallavi is extraordinary in projecting the genuinity of the character. That's why we casted her in the film.” Praising her role in the film, Aravind said, “She has done an extremely good job in this.”
Inspired by a real incident, Thandel follows the story of fisherman Raju hailing from Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam, who while on a routine fishing trip, accidentally drifts into Pakistani waters. The film explores Srikakulam’s bravery when he is caught by the Pakistani authorities. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the film also stars Prakash Belawadi, Karunakaran, and Kalpa Latha. The film was produced by Bunny Vasu under Geetha Arts banner and presented by Aravind.
Thandel is slated to release on Friday, February 7. Apart from Telugu, the film will also be released in Tamil and Hindi.
