Sai Pallavi is soaking in the success of her recent release, Amaran—a biographical war film based on the life of Ashoka Chakra recipient Major Mukund Varadarajan. The film, which is getting rave reviews, entered the Rs 200 crore club on the 11th day of release.

Pallavi got her first lead role in Malayalam film Premam (2016) and has since been a fan favourite on the big screen. In 2021, Pallavi starred in Rahul Sankrityan's Shyam Singha Roy, which, despite a moderate run at the box office, gained Pallavi widespread recognition for her performance.
In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Pallavi shared that though she was praised for her role, the filming of the movie was challenging. The production called for night shoots, which she is not fond of.
“While shooting for Shyam Singha Roy, I would have been happy just to finish the shoot for the day. Most of our scenes were shot at night and I’m not fond of night shoots. I’m someone who can’t sleep during the day. So, imagine being awake all night, only to be awake again the next day. This wasn’t just for a day or two, but it went on for almost 30 days,” she said.
Pallavi, who was working on other projects at the same time, revealed that she experienced burnout, which eventually led to a breakdown. “I remember crying at one point and thinking to myself, ‘I want to act in films, but I just wish I could get one day off’. I never told anyone about it, but my younger sister saw me crying and went straight to the producer, saying, ‘She is crying, and she just wants one day off'.”
The Maari 2 actress said she was shocked by producer Venkat Boyanapalli's response. “Take 10 days off. Do whatever you want, and come back when you are ready.”
Pallavi believed that since the cast and crew adored her and often viewed her as a “child”, they must have thought that she would be able to handle the demanding schedules.
Pallavi is currently working on Thandel, starring Naga Chaitanya, which is slated for a February 2025 release. She is also gearing up for her Bollywood debut with a two-part film, Ramayana, where she will star as Sita. The film will release in 2026, with the sequel hitting the big screens in 2027.
