On December 31, the makers of Ajith Kumar’s Viddamuyarchi announced that the film would not hit the screens during the Pongal festival, leaving his fans disappointed.
It has been an arduous and long road for the makers of Vidaamuyarchi and they had to go through several roadblocks before getting the film set for release.
When Ajith won his car race and later when he was honoured with Padma Bhushan, the fans went gaga over it. And now, they went into a frenzy as the action thriller is all set for release on Thursday.
Adding to their happiness is the Tamil Nadu government's permission for the 9 am special shows. Ajith fans are all set to celebrate the release with special DJ performances and fan events.
In Vidaamuyarchi Ajith Kumar is donning a different role—a combination of his star power as a cinema hero and a car racer. The trailer and the teaser released a few weeks ago showed Ajith hitting the road in an intense avatar. With shots filmed in Azerbaijan and a long motorway dotted with barren deserts on either side, the trailer suggested that Vidamuyaarchi will be an action-packed crime thriller, set in an arid region.
Along with Ajith, Trisha Krishnan, Regina Casandra and Arjun Sara feature in key roles. The music scored by Anirudh Ravichander has already become a sensation among Ajith fans.
Ajith’s films usually do not have extraordinary audio launches or special occasions for trailers or teaser launches. He had also disbanded his fan clubs way back in 2011 and the behind-the-scenes drama in any of his films has never come out for his fans to celebrate.
However, this time the expectations have gone high after Ajith won the Padma award. The bookings suggest that Vidaamuyracho could be a box-office blockbuster. The first-day collection at the box office in Tamil Nadu is expected to cross Rs. 40 crores, setting a new record. Ajith's fans are eagerly waiting to watch their Thala drive on the motorways in Azerbaijan.
