Among the high-profile crime thrillers teased by Netflix India on Monday's launch event were the Keerthy Suresh-Radhika Apte gangster drama Akka, the third season of Shefali Shah-starrer Delhi Crime, Saif Ali Khan-Jaideep Ahlawat's Jewel Thief, and the second season of Kohrra.

The streaming giant also announced other titles in the crime genre, such as Mandala Murders and Khakee: The Bengal Chapter.

Akka is set in the 1980s, in the fictional city of Pernuru, South India, and explores a matrarchal society and a tale of gangster queens who run into conflict with external forces. Aside from Keerthy and Radhika, veteran actress Tanvi Azmi joins the cast which also features a few faces from Malayalam cinema.

Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, the series has major portions shot in Kerala. Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films (YRF) Entertainment is producing it jointly with Yogendra Mogre and Akshaye Widhani.

Delhi Crime Season 3 will see Shefali Shah reprising her role as the senior cop DCP Vartika Chaturvedi. From the footage released by Netflix, this season will seemingly focus on a human trafficking story, with Huma Qureshi playing the main antagonist.

Tanuj Chopra, who directed Season 2, is directing the third, which also sees the return of Rasika Dugal as Neeti Singh and Rajesh Tailang as Inspector Bhupendra.

Jewel Thief is produced by Sidharth Anand, the director of blockbusters such as War, Pathaan and Fighter. Headlined by Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat, the crime thriller with international locations revolves around criminal masterminds planning a major heist.

Directed by Robbie Grewal and Kookie Gulati, it also features Nikita Dutta, Kunal Kapoor, Piotr Pamula, and Sandhya Mridul.

Kohrra Season 2 sees the return of actor Barun Sobti as Garundi, who teams up with new lead cast member Mona Singh as his supervisor, Dhanwant Kaur. The duo will investigate the case of a woman found brutally murdered in her brother's home.

It seems actor Suvinder Vicky is not part of the cast of the new season. Sudip Sharma and Faisal Rahman are directing episodes penned by Gunjit Chopra, Diggi Sisodia, and Sudip Sharma, the trio that also wrote the first season. It is produced by Film Squad Productions along with Act Three Productions.

Mandala Murders is centered on two detectives who unravel a dark conspiracy involving murders linked to a centuries-old secret society's nefarious plan. An edge-of-the-seat thriller backed by Yash Raj Entertainment, the show created and directed by Gopi Puthran (Mardaani 2) has Vaani Kapoor and Vaibhav Raj Gupta playing the leads, with Surveen Chawla and Jameel Khan in the other main roles. Manan Rawat is the co-director.

Khakee: The Bengal Chapter is set in 2000s Kolkata and will have Jeet and Parambrata Chatterjee playing police officers and Prosenjit Chatterjee as a politician.

Neeraj Pandey, who also ran the first season Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, is the showrunner, with directing duties handled by Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray. Pandey is among the writing team comprising Debatma Mandal and Samrat Chakraborty.
