As per the latest reports, Kerala Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) has confirmed that a chargesheet has been filed against Malayalam actor-politician Mukesh in the sexual assault case against him, citing the presence of digital evidence against him based on an Aluva-based actress' statement.
She had filed a complaint against the actor, who is also a CPI(M) MLA, on August 29, 2024, following which a case was registered on August 30 by Ernakulam's Maradu Police. The court had granted Mukesh anticipatory bail at the time.
The charge sheet has been filed in the Ernakulam Judicial Magistrate Court. It has also been revealed that aside from harassment, a section of sexual assault has also been charged against Mukesh.
The actress had alleged multiple instances of harassment and sexual misconduct from Mukesh in different circumstances. She had mentioned that Mukesh once behaved inappropriately with her and made work difficult for her during a shoot of the movie Calendar, where they first met, and later while shooting the movie Nadakame Ulakam.
She also said the actor had behaved in an intensely reproachful manner towards her when he couldn't have his way with her and, at one point, informed her she wouldn't be able to secure a membership in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) without his saying so.
Mukesh also attempted to sexually assault her while the two were working on the movie Nadakame Ulakam, but she managed to get away.
The SIT has reportedly stated that the chargesheet contains WhatsApp chats, Email messages, and circumstantial evidence proving that Mukesh was seen with the complainant, corroborated by witnesses' statements.
The Malayalam film industry was rocked by a wave of shocking allegations last year following the release of the Hema Committee Report in August. Mukesh was one of the actors named in the wake of the report.
