THEATRE RELEASES
1. IRah: The Immortality App
Release date: April 4
'IRah: The Immortality App' revolves around a narcissistic CEO of a tech-based company, who creates an app for immortality. A person can achieve immortality by just digitally archiving him/her into the app. But soon things go south as the app falls into the wrong hands and the rest becomes the crux of the movie. The Indo-British sci-fi movie is helmed by Director Sam Bhattacharjee, and Rohit Roy essays the role of the CEO. When asked about his role, Rohit Roy says, "I think this is probably one of my best works in cinema.”
2. The Family Star
Release date: April 5
Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur team up in this highly anticipated rom-com. Deverakonda essays the role of an architect named Govardhan while Thakur plays the role of his tenant Indu. Not much is revealed about the plot, but according to the trailer, Govardhan falls for his tenant, and their developing cat-and-mouse relationship takes centre stage. The movie is directed by Parasuram Petla, known for his blockbuster 'Geetha Govindam'. The movie will be released in Tamil and Telugu. 'The Family Star' promises viewers an entertaining watch.
3. The First Omen
Release date: April 5
The sixth instalment of the Omen franchise and a prequel to the 1976 classic, 'The First Omen' looks into the life of a young woman who wants to devote her life to the church. On her journey, she encounters darkness which later brings about the antichrist. While facing her deadliest fears, she is forced to question her faith. Nell Tiger essays the role of Margaret along with Maria Caballero and Ralph Ineson. When asked about her experience, Nell Tiger responded by saying, "I love horror, so getting to do this movie has been a real dream for me, honestly." Directed by Arkasha Stevenson, the movie is a spine-chilling experience.

1. Parasyte: The Grey

The sci-fi horror film is based on the original manga “Parasyte” by Hitoshi Iwaaki. The plot explores a parallel universe where parasites fall from the sky and enter humans as hosts, and humanity struggles to fight the invasion. The series delves into themes of identity, the nature of existence, and survival. Directed by Yeon Sang-Ho, who is known for his 'Train to Busan' directorial, 'Parasyte: The Grey’ promises viewers to be glued to their seats with stunning visual effects.
2. Farrey
Release date: April 5
Streaming platform: Zee5
The official remake of the popular Thai film 'Bad Genius', 'Farrey' revolves around Niyati, essayed by debutant Alizeh Agnihotri (Salman Khan's niece), who earns a scholarship to a prestigious college, is an orphan, and comes from a lower background. She finds herself among wealthy peers who persuade her to help them cheat in exams. With the easy money that comes along with cheating, Niyati struggles to face her moral grounds. Directed by Soumendra Padhi, the movie features a stellar cast including Prasanna Bisht, Ronit Roy, Sahil Mehta, and Juhi Babbar. The movie released in theatres last year and received okay responses.
3. Wish

As Disney celebrates its centenary, Oscar-winning director Chris Buck's animated movie 'Wish' comes alive. Set in the imaginary kingdom of Rosas, a young idealist named Asha, voiced by Academy Award-winning actor Ariana DeBose, makes a wish that is so powerful and is answered by a mystical energy force called Star. Together they confront the ruler of Rosas and try to save their community with the powers of Star. 'Wish' was nominated for the 2024 Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, Animated.
4. Loot (Season 2)
Release date: April 3
Streaming platform: Apple TV
The 2022 sitcom is renewed for another season. Molly, essayed by Maya Rudolph, takes her husband's divorce settlement of $84 billion and embarks on a wild adventure. Due to the positive response, the creators have agreed to another season, where we can see Molly struggling with her newfound wealth and responsibility. The series features an ensemble cast of Michaela Jae' Rodriguez, Ron Funches, and Nat Faxon.
5. Ripley
Release date: April 4

Based on Patricia Highsmith's renowned novel 'The Talented Mr Ripley,' the series centres on Tom Ripley, played by Andrew Scott, who is a bankrupt grifter. Lured into a wealthy man's life, Tom Ripley becomes obsessed with the luxurious life. Murder, identity theft, power, and greed are the other themes that form the crux of the series. 'Ripley' is a slow burner and creates tension as Tom Ripley builds his web of lies. The psychological drama is created by Steven Zaillian.
6. How to Date Billy Walsh

Two childhood best friends, Archie and Amelia, one secretly in love with the other, embark on their school journey when a transfer student wooes all the girls in school. Even Amelia starts falling for the new guy, and despite Archie's efforts to break them up, they continue to get closer. The triangle love story has a lot of twists and turns and promises viewers a fun watch. Archie is played by Sebastian Croft, and Amelia is played by Bridgerton fame Charithra Chandran.
