Panchayat fans who have been waiting for the show's Season 3 since May 2022 may have to wait for another 10 months as a report by The Stateman claims that the new season will be out on Amazon Prime by December this year.
Earlier, it was reported that the Deepak Kumar Mishra directorial might release on January 15 this year. Once that didn't happen, there were speculations that the show will air during March first week but that did not happen either. And now, The Statesman has reported that the Season 3 is likely to air during December first week.
The script of Panchayat is written by Chandan Kumar. The show has Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Chandan Roy and others in the key roles. The plot revolved around the life of an engineering graduate who is appointed as a Panchayat secretary in the fictional village of Phulera in Uttar Pradesh.
The first season premiered on April 3, 2020 during the height of Covid pandemic and turned out to be an instant hit among viewers stuck during the lockdowns. The second season released on May 18, 2022.
Why is Panchayat Season 3 delayed?
Earlier reports said the show was delayed due to clash with other OTT releases. Though there is no official confirmation regarding the exact release date, reports suggest that the shooting for the upcoming season is still going on, causing delay in post-production as well.
