Actor Hema Malini's daughter Esha Deol, announced that she and her husband of 11 years have divorced. The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, have two children. In a statement, the former actor said, “We have mutually and amicably decided to part ways. Through this shift in our lives, the best interests and welfare of our two children are and will be of utmost importance to us. We’d appreciate our privacy is respected.”
She also said that the split is amicable. In June 2023, Deol posted pictures of her with her husband on Instagram. She wrote, “For keeps for eternity ♥️? @bharattakhtani3 #weddinganniversary #11 gratitude ♥️” Speculations about their divorce started doing the rounds when Takhtani wasn't seen at Hema Malini's birthday. He wasn't around for Esha's birthday celebration either.
In her book Amma Mia, which she wrote after her second daughter Miraya was born, she wrote that her husband felt neglected after the birth of their second child. “After my second baby, for a short while, I noticed that Bharat was cranky and irritated with me. He felt that I wasn’t giving him enough attention. It is very natural for a husband to feel this way because, at that time, I was consumed with Radhya’s playschool fiasco and feeding Miraya, and I was also between writing my book and dealing with my production meetings. So, he felt neglected,” she wrote.
In the book she also writes that she hadn't been out on a date night with her husband for a long time.
